I FEBRUARY 2002
LOVE AND FORGIVENESS
The
month of February is often associated with the theme of love. The greatest
love we can experience is the love that God freely gives to us. One
of the greatest hindrances we have to really share that kind of love
with those around us is because of unforgiveness. The Bible tells us
that if we won't forgive those around us that God cannot forgive us.
Does that sound too demanding or impossible for you? In the year 1818,
Tamatoe, King of Huahine, one of the South Sea Islands, became a Christian.
He discovered a plot among fellow natives to seize him and other followers
of Christianity. The plan was for the King and the others to be put
to death. King Tamatoe organized a group to surprise the enemies, capture
them and then to have a great feast for them. This unexpected kindness
surprised the enemies who decided to become Christians. Clara Barton,
Red Cross founder, was asked if she remembered an especially cruel thing
done to her years before. When she seemed not to recall it, a friend
asked, "Don't you remember?" "No," said Miss Barton, "I distinctly remember
forgetting it." God has forgiven us, it is now time that we forgive
others so that we can get on to a bright future. Is some cruelty holding
you back? Forgive and Live.
The Bible Says: "For if you forgive men when they sin against you,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive
men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

LETTER
FROM THE ISF ASSISTANT
Dear
International Friend,
Greetings to you once again from International Student Fellowship. We
thank those who were able to attend our last gathering and hope you can
come again. If you weren't able to come last time we cordially invite
you to the next Gathering on February 8th. Already another month of a
New Year has passed us by.
Here in the Pittsburgh area we are experiencing a relative quiet winter
in terms of snowstorms. We had a few times of snow over the last few weeks
and most commented on the beauty of the newly fallen snow. With very little
wind the snow stayed right were it fell making it a beautiful winter wonderland.
It melted soon enough so that our lives were not too disrupted..
Again our next gathering will be on Friday, February 8th, 7:30 PM
in the beautiful Ballroom of the William Pitt Union. The
William Pitt Union is located in Oakland on the corner of Bigelow
and Fifth Avenue. To get to the Ballroom, use the entrance on Fifth Avenue
and then follow the signs
At this gathering there will be an interesting lecture I'm sure you will
enjoy. Of course there will be good music and the traditional ISF full
course dinner. There will be children's activities in the Kurtzman Room,
and that wonderful International fellowship. Please plan to come and invite
your friends. It's all free!
We look forward to seeing you on February 8th!
