HELP YOURSELF BY HELPING OTHERS

The story is told of two men riding on a sleigh during a blizzard. Almost frozen and afraid that they would not reach warmth and safety, they came upon another traveler who had fallen in the snow and was near death from the terrific cold. One suggested that they stop and help. The other refused, saying that to stop might keep them from reaching safety. He insisted on going on. However, the first man decided to stay and help. He set himself to the task of massaging the man's body to restore circulation. After long hard work, the man responded and was saved. The traveler's work in helping another helped keep himself warm and alive. The one who refused to stay and help was found some distance ahead, frozen to death.

LETTER FROM THE ISF ASSISTANT

Dear International Friend,

Many flowers have already started to bloom and spring is in the air. Once again we will switch to Daylight Savings Time, so here in Pittsburgh we will all turn our clocks ahead 1 hour before we go to sleep on Saturday night, April 6th. The time zone difference makes our world an interesting place to live in. It's hard to imagine that while I am busy with the responsibilities of my workday, people on the other side of the world are enjoying a good night's sleep. So many people also complain about the "jet lag" that they experience when traveling long distances. While that may be somewhat annoying we still live in a time when we are surrounded by many conveniences to make life simpler with more opportunities to do the things we enjoy like traveling to other countries. 100 years ago they never had "jet lag." Yet at that time it would take half a year to get to Japan or China instead of 14 to 16 hours.

Our special April ISF Gathering will be on Friday, April 12th, 7:30 PM in the beautiful Ballroom of the William Pitt Union. The William Pitt Union is located in Oakland on the corner of Bigelow and 5th. Avenue. To get to the Ballroom, use the entrance on Fifth Avenue and then follow the signs.

At this gathering, we will be emphasizing the joy and newness of the spring season. New life and renewal are essential in this day. So come and be renewed in spirit as you sing with us, enjoy wonderful ISF fellowship, and hear a challenging lecture on important issues of life.

Of course there will also be a full course dinner, good music, special children's activities in the Kurtzman Room, but especially good International fellowship. It's all free, so do plan to come and invite your friends.

Hope to see you on April 12th!

A CHRISTIAN SHOULD BE:

A MIND through which Christ thinks.

A VOICE through which Christ speaks.

A HEART through which Christ loves.

A HAND through which Christ helps.

HOW IS THE CHRISTIAN DIFFERENT?

The Christian sees through kinder eyes -- like Jesus.

He gives from a bigger heart -- like God.

He speaks with a purer tongue -- like Christ.

He serves with more willing hands -- like Jesus.

He walks with a greater faith -- like his Lord.

INSPIRING QUOTATIONS

"But Jesus called them to Himself and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave-just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."                                                          (Matt. 20:25-28)
