I FEBRUARY 2003
LETTER
FROM THE ISF ASSISTANT
Dear International Friend,
Greetings to you from International Student Fellowship.
It seems like we are in the cold grip of winter and most of
us here in Pittsburgh are hoping for an early spring. This has
been very challenging weather with the bitter cold and snow
but just remember it won't last forever and maybe by the time
you will receive our March newsletter things will have changed
dramatically..
Many are celebrating Chinese New Year so we extend a
very happy time to you with your family and friends. Others
will be looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day
on February 14th. No matter who you are it is a nice time to
express your love and appreciation to someone special in your
life. Take time to let someone know you love them and don't
take it for granted that they know how you feel. What a wonderful
thing to realize that God loves us most of all.
We look forward to seeing you at our February ISF gathering
at the William Pitt Union. This gathering will be on Friday,
February 14th at 7:30 PM in the beautiful Ballroom
of the William Pitt Union. The William Pitt Union is
located in Oakland on the corner of Bigelow and Fifth Avenue.
To get to the Ballroom, use the entrance on Fifth Avenue and
then follow the signs.
At this gathering we will focus on the theme of Valentine's
Day. We hope you will feel the love of our big International
family. We also hope you will come hungry to enjoy the full
course meal and to hear a challenging lecture. As usual, there
will be children's activities in the Kurtzman room. So do come
and be a part of our warm International family and invite your
friends. It's all free.
At this gathering we will focus on thoughts for the New Year.
There's nothing that can warm the heart on a cold winter night
like the warm friendship you will feel at our monthly gathering.
You'll enjoy the full course meal and challenging lecture. Of
course, there will be children's activities in the Kurtzman
room. So do come and be a part of our big International family
and invite your friends. It's all free!
We hope to see you on February 14th.

THE
RIGHT PERSPECTIVE
A landscape artist does not always stand at an arm's length from his
canvas. He must not limit his attention to the isolated details of what
he is doing. Occasionally he steps back to view his work from a distance.
He needs to see how his thousands of small brushstrokes fit together
to produce an overall result. Likewise, our perspective on life is much
improved if sometime we can step back and see it whole. We can become
so occupied with its daily brushstrokes that we have no real perception
of the whole scene we are painting on the canvas of the ongoing years.
Our attentions can be so consumed by the requirements of daily living
that we have little awareness of the dimensions and directions of life
itself. Step back from the canvas a little, and try to see the whole
picture. Look beyond the varied episodes of our daily doings and see
the glory of it all. Look beyond the brushstrokes to see the art, which
the brushstrokes have made and are making.
