THE KIND OF DAD I WOULD BUY

If I went shopping for a man to be my dad, here is what I’d buy: one who would always stop to answer a little boy’s “why?” One who would always speak kindly to a little girl or boy, one who would give a bit of sunshine and joy. I would pick a dad who followed the Bible’s Golden Rule, and one who went regularly to church and Sunday school. I would buy the very finest Dad to place in our family tree-and then I’d try to live like him, so he would be proud of me.

LETTER FROM THE ISF ASSISTANT
Dear International Friend,

Greetings to you and your friends and family from International Student Fellowship. The weather has definitely changed for the better. It will be anyone’s guess as to what kind of a summer we will have. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny most of the time but not too warm. When we had temperatures of 85 degrees our daughter in Colorado Springs, Colorado told us she had snow. It is time for us to just enjoy the nice weather we have had.

Our director, Mr. Stonebraker, is doing much better but is still in a nursing home and rehab center. The facilities are very nice but he misses being able to be involved in the monthly gatherings. He hopes to come in the month of June so we pray that will be possible. Recently he spoke at a 50th wedding anniversary dinner for the first international student he met back in 1960. He told about the phone call that Stanley Mather, from Sri Lanka, made to him when Stanley was new in Pittsburgh and looking for a place to go to church. Over the years that friendship has grown until P. D. Stonebraker considers Stanley his brother. God gave Mr. Stonebraker a brother he never had in the person of Stanley Mather.

We enjoyed having around 40 mothers at our gathering in May. Since we celebrate Father’s Day in June we would like to honor all the fathers who will be at the June gathering. Of course, we will help any children, who have a birthday in the month of June, to celebrate that special day in their lives at the gathering. Please come and invite your friends.

Our June ISF Gathering will be on Friday, June 4th, 7:30 PM in the beautiful Ballroom of the William Pitt Union. The William Pitt Union is located in Oakland on the corner of Bigelow and 5th. Avenue. To get to the Ballroom, use the entrance on 5th. Avenue and then follow the signs. We hope P. D. Stonebraker will be with us to speak to us depending on his strength. There will also be a full course dinner, good music, special children’s activities in the Kurtzman Room, but especially good International fellowship. It’s all free, so do plan to come and invite your friends and especially any fathers you know.

We hope to see you on June 4th!
