I AUGUST 2004
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven.
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.
--Matthew
6:9-13
I
cannot say “Our” if I live only
for myself
I cannot say “Father” if I do not
endeavor each day to act like His child.
I cannot say “Hallowed be Your name”
if I am not striving for holiness.
I cannot say “Your kingdom come”
if I am not doing all in my power to hasten that wonderful event.
I cannot say “Your will be done”
if I am disobedient to His Word.
I cannot say “On earth as it is in heaven”
if I’ll not serve Him here and now.
I cannot say “Give us this day our daily bread”
if I am dishonest or am seeking things by cheating.
I cannot say “And forgive us our debts”
if I harbor a grudge or hatred against anyone.
I cannot say “But deliver us from evil”
if I do not put on the whole armor of God.
I cannot say “For Yours is the kingdom”
if I do not give the King the loyalty due Him from a faithful
subject.
I cannot attribute to Him “the power”
if I fear what men may do to me.
I cannot ascribe to Him “the glory”
if I’m seeking honor only for myself, and I cannot say
“forever” if the horizon of my
life is bound completely by time.

People
are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If
you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If
you are successful, you will win some false friends and some
true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If
you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What
you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and
God.
It never was between you and them anyway…

LETTER
FROM THE ISF ASSISTANT
Dear International Friend,
We hope you are enjoying the summertime weather. We know many
of you have taken time to travel this summer. It is always exciting
and interesting to visit a new place. Over the summer no doubt
some changes have taken place in your life. Maybe you have moved
to a new place or returned home after being away for many years.
Change is sometimes easy and sometimes not so easy for us to
adapt to. If you face the new challenges in your life with God’s
help it will make all the difference. The stress of change can
be overwhelming at times. A new job, school or an addition to
your family can bring much joy and also extra pressure and responsibilities.
Keep your heart and mind focused on God’s love for you
and everything will have new perspective.
Our August ISF Gathering will be very special
for it is the time for our Annual ISF Picnic!
The date is Friday, August 20th at the Vietnam
Veteran’s Pavilion in Schenley Park. The pavilion
will be open at 2:00 PM and the picnic meal will be served at
around 6:00 PM. This is always the ultimate
summer “family time” and it’s all free. So
invite your friends to partake of some good old-fashioned American
hamburgers, hot dogs and other traditional picnic food. Even
if you don’t usually eat meat, there will be plenty of
other food for you to enjoy. If you like, feel free to bring
something from you own country to add to the table. There will
also be games and swings, etc. for all to enjoy. (Below
is a map to get to the Vietnam Veteran’s Pavilion in Schenley
Park.)
If you need a ride, the ISF van (light blue) will also be making
several trips from Hillman Library to the park starting at about
5:45 PM.
We look forward to seeing you on August 20th!
--Terry and Pam Tiberio, ISF Assistants
