MY CHILD WHAT CAN I GIVE YOU

I give you my love, which means that I accept you,
without reservations, just as you are and will be.

I give you my personal presence in order that you will
have the security you need during your childhood.

I give you my ears, in the sense that I will never be too
busy to listen to you-sometimes never uttering
even one word.

I give you opportunities to work so that you might learn to
do it without shame and come to enjoy the satisfaction of
work well done.

I give you my counsel only when it is necessary or you
ask for it so that you might avoid some of the
mistakes I have made.

I give you my daily prayers that the Lord will keep you
and guide you in such a way that you, my child,
will be a man or woman who will serve and glorify our
Heavenly Father.

This I give you with all my love,

Your Mother

M-O-T-H-E-R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.

LETTER FROM THE ISF ASSISTANTS
Dear International Friend,

Once again, we send friendly greetings to you, our dear International Friends. The month of April brought beautiful and warm sunny weather to the Pittsburgh area. On many days it was not necessary to wear a jacket and we had very little rain most of the month. Last spring we brought an “azalea.” We wondered if it would survive the winter. Just recently it started to shows signs of blooming once again. It reminds us of new life and the miracle of God's creation. In even the smallest details of life we are aware of God's goodness and love for us. Each new morning can begin with the assurance that God loves you and has promised to help you through the day.

It's that time again to especially remember mothers. This year we will celebrate Mother's Day on May 8th. It is interesting to note that National Teacher Day is on May 4th, just a few days before. God's purpose is for a mother to be the first teacher a child has. That is an awesome responsibility. Many great leaders have recognized their mother as being one of the most important influential people in their life. My wife and I realize that both of our mothers taught us many valuable lessons that have helped us throughout our journey of life. Take some time to thank your mother for all she has done for you.

The date of the May ISF Gathering will be on Friday, May April 13th at 7:30 PM in the beautiful Ballroom of the William Pitt Union . The William Pitt Union is located in Oakland on the corner of Bigelow and Fifth Avenue. To get to the Ballroom, use the entrance on Fifth Avenue and then follow the signs. At this gathering we will have a special tribute for the mothers in attendance and a small gift for each one. We also hope to have an interesting lecture, special music and warm fellowship along with our full course meal. The children will be having special activities in the Kurtzman room. It's all free!

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, May 13th !

“Do not forsake the law of your mother” (Proverbs 1:8)

The law of your mother-unwritten, but indelibly stamped upon your mind! It's the law of love, of kindness, of selflessness, of giving! Motherhood- just think of its blessings, joys, sorrows, challenges and triumphs. There's no greater ecstasy than holding her newborn, and no greater anguish than the broken heart a child may cause. A mother's love is the nearest thing on earth to God's love. The wisdom of God is exhibited in motherhood. We are not the byproduct of some impersonal biological process. We were not made on an assembly line by the combination of chemicals. Our mothers nurtured us and formed an intimate relationship with us before we were born. She jeopardized her life for us. The greatest lessons we have ever learned have come from loving, caring, sacrificing mothers who were always available to us. A woman's greatest, most fulfilling and far-reaching role is expressed in motherhood. Let us be sensitive and grateful, not only on Mother's Day-but everyday for our mothers and the mother of our children.
