GAINING BY LOSING

We gain life by losing it in service to God and to others. We might think of the Arkansas River in Colorado . Formerly it flowed down a steep mountainside past a desert that lay parched for centuries. Year after year it deepened its own channel as it sped on its way to the ocean and oblivion. One winter a dam was built across the dry channel of the summer stream, stopping the flow of the water. Unable to follow its usual course, the river formed a lake from which the water was channeled and ditched into the desert. The former arid region now produces fields of waving grain. The free life of the stream was sacrificed, but it found itself again in the golden harvest. Those who live only for themselves are losing their lives. Those who live for Christ and for others are finding real life-a full, happy, eternal life of loving service.

THE CLOCK OF LIFE

The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop,
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.

Faith and Doubt

Doubt sees the obstacles. Faith sees the way!

Doubt sees the darkest night. Faith sees the day!

Doubt dreads to take a step. Faith soars on high!

Doubt questions, “Who believes?” Faith answers, “I!”

Words of Wisdom

•  A person going nowhere can be sure of his destination.

•  True happiness may be sought, thought, or caught – but never bought.

•  The reason that history repeats itself is that most people weren't listening the first time.

•  The most dangerous lies are the ones that resemble the truth.

•  If we all profited by our mistakes, millionaires would be commonplace.

LETTER FROM THE ISF ASSISTANTS
Dear International Friend,

Our warm and cordial greetings to you our International Friends.

We hope that as you receive this letter you will realize that we do consider each one of you as our friend. If you have some free time, please send us an e-mail and let us know how you are doing. We always like to receive pictures of you and your family. If you have children let us know how they are doing. We enjoy hearing news from you.

In the Bible there is a verse that makes this statement: “As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.” Proverbs 25:25

We live in a world that makes communication so convenient. We take for granted how quickly we are able to send information over the computer and how easy it is to communicate with so many people having cell-phones. We can overnight important documents to most places in the world. Although it would seem that we can communicate so easily, are we really listening to what we have to say to each other? I'm sure the majority of time we are really listening, however, I'll have to admit that some times I am doing something else while talking on the phone and I am not really grasping all the other person has to say. While we human beings are so preoccupied with so many things when in communication with each other it is reassuring to know that God always hears and listens. We don't need to worry that something else is taking His attention. He is interested in us. While we may cringe when the phone is ringing off the hook, God delights in the times we come to talk to Him in prayer. Have you taken time to pray today? God is waiting to hear from you!
