YESTERDAY

Security from Yesterday. “God requires that which is past.” At the end of the year we turn with eagerness to all that God has for the future, and yet anxiety is apt to arise from remembering the yesterdays. Our present enjoyment of God's grace is apt to be checked by the memory of yesterday's sins and blunders. But God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them in order to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual culture for the future. God reminds us of the past lest we get into a shallow security in the present.

Security for Tomorrow. “For the Lord will go before you.” This is a gracious revelation, that God will garrison where we have failed to. He will watch lest things trip us up again into like future, as they assuredly would do if He were not our guard. God's hand reaches back to the past and makes a clearing-house for conscience.

Security for Today. “For ye shall not go out with haste.” As we go forth into the coming year, let it not be in the haste of impetuous, un-remembering delight, nor with the flight of impulsive thoughtlessness, but with the patient power of knowing that God will go before us. Our yesterdays present irreparable things to us; it is true that we have lost opportunities which will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past sleep. But let it sleep on the bosom of Christ.

Let the Irreparable Past in His hands, and step out into the Irresistible Future with Him.

                                                                                        - Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

TEN THINGS TO REMENBER

  1. The value of time
  2. The success of perseverance
  3. The pleasure of working
  4. The dignity of simplicity
  5. The worth of character
  6. The power of kindness
  7. The influence of example
  8. The obligation of duty
  9. The wisdom of economy
  10. The virtue of patience

Live today to the fullest. Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Goals are Biblical. The apostle Paul said, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Take Time

•  Take time to be friendly - it is the road to happiness.

•  Take time to love - it is a God-given privilege.

•  Take time to pray - it is the greatest power on earth.

•  Take time to give - life is too short to be selfish.

Faith and Doubt

Doubt sees the obstacles. Faith sees the way!

Doubt sees the darkest night. Faith sees the day!

Doubt dreads to take a step. Faith soars on high!

Doubt questions, “Who believes?” Faith answers, “I!”

Words of Wisdom

•  A person going nowhere can be sure of his destination.

•  True happiness may be sought, thought, or caught – but never bought.

•  The reason that history repeats itself is that most people weren't listening the first time.

•  The most dangerous lies are the ones that resemble the truth.

•  If we all profited by our mistakes, millionaires would be commonplace.

LETTER FROM THE ISF ASSISTANTS
Dear International Friend,

We would like to extend to you our best wishes for a Happy New Year. Our prayer is that each one of you will find this a year when you know God in a deeper and fuller way. He is there waiting to help you in a way you never dreamed possible if you will humble your heart and acknowledge that you need Him day by day.
We spent a wonderful Christmas season visiting with all our children and three grandchildren. Even though we may feel tired when they go home we especially enjoy having our grandchildren with us. They will only be little for a little while and we want to spend time with them at a tender age to show them the love of Jesus.

This past year had its good days and not so good days. The pressures and concerns of life are always mixed with faith, hope and joy. We can say that in every situation when we have trusted in God to help us He has been there to be a source of comfort and wisdom.

Even though the Christmas Season is over we want to remember that God made a way in the manger of Bethlehem . That way was the way to the Cross where Jesus paid the price for our sins. As we start the New Year we want to keep in mind each day His wonderful love and sacrifice for us.

--Terry & Pam Tiberio, ISF Assistants
