QUOTES ABOUT MOTHERS

If I cannot give my children a perfect mother I can at least give them more of the one they've got—and make that one more loving. I will be available. I will take time to listen, time to play, time to be home when they arrive from school, time to counsel and encourage.

                                                                                     --Ruth Bell Graham

I believe in the love of mothers, and its importance in the lives of the children they love. It is stronger than steel, softer than down, and more resilient than a green sapling on the hillside. It closes wounds, melts disappointments, and enables the weakest child to stand tall and straight in the fields of adversity. I believe that this love, even at its best, is only a shadow of the love of God. I believe that one of the most beautiful sights in the world is a mother who lets this greater love flow through her to her child to bless the world.

                                                                                      --adapted from John Killenger

ABOVE ALL ELSE: Directions for Life

-- Guard Your Speech

Think…pause…then speak: How wise is the person who can communicate in this way. But all too often, in the rush to have ourselves heard, we speak first and think next…with unfortunate results. If we seek to be a source of encouragement to friends and family, then we must measure our words carefully. They can hurt or heal.

-- Guard Your Eyes

How important are your material possessions? Not as important as you might think. In fact, when we become overly enamored with the things we own, we needlessly distance ourselves from the peace that God offers to those who place Him at the center of their lives. Do you find yourself wrapped up in the concerns of the material world? If so, it's time to reorder your priorities by turning your thoughts and your prayers to more important matters.

-- Guard Your Steps

What do you expect from the day ahead? Are you expecting God to do wonderful things, or are you living beneath a cloud of apprehension? Christ came to this earth to give us abundant life and eternal salvation. Our task is to accept Christ's grace with joy in our hearts and praise on our lips. When we fashion our days around Jesus, we are transformed, we act differently, and we feel differently about ourselves and our neighbors.

-- Guard Your Heart

Is God your top priority? Have you given His Son your heart, your soul, your talents, and your time? As you contemplate your own relationship with God, remember this: All of mankind is engaged in the practice of worship. Some people choose to worship God and, as a result, reap the joy that He intends for His children. Does God rule your heart?

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:23-27

LETTER FROM THE ISF DIRECTORS

Dear International Friend,

Our warm greetings to you. We hope that this letter will be a reminder to you that you are important to us no matter where you are. As we meet new friends we are constantly remembering the many other friends God has brought into our lives from many different corners of the world. We want to take time to especially honor mothers as we write this letter. We desire that the articles we have chosen will be a help not only to the mothers and women who read this but to each one of you. May God bless you today with the sense of His love and peace.

--Terry & Pam Tiberio, ISF Directors

The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom.
