I OCTOBER 2007
THAT WHICH IS ETERNAL |
At the Milan Cathedral there are three inscriptions over the respective doorways. Over the right-hand door there is this motto: “All that pleases is but for a moment.” Over the left-hand door the words are; “All that troubles is but for a moment.” But over the central door there is a simple sentence; “ Nothing is important save that which is eternal.”
Right or Wrong?
|
A thing is right, or a thing is wrong,
And there is not in-between We sometimes wish that it wasn't so,
But it's plain what both words mean.
If it's “not quite right,” then it must be wrong,
If “it wouldn't be wrong,” then it's right.
Though sometimes it's very hard to choose
When the difference seems very slight.
But no matter how old you live to be,
And no matter where you go,
There are no half measures with right or wrong,
And it always will be so.

GOD'S PRIORITIES |
When you make God's priorities your priorities, He will lead you according to His plan and according to His commandments. When you study God's teachings, you are reminded that God's reality is the ultimate reality. Do you seek to live a life of righteousness and wisdom? If so, you must study the ultimate source of wisdom; the Word of God.
–Values for Life
Does anyone really have a right to tell us what to do? This is an interesting question. Honestly, how would you answer it? When I was a boy, I thought it would be wonderful to grow up so that no one would tell me what to do. Was I ever wrong! Life is full of people who are over us, telling us what to do. That is indeed something we all have to deal with. However, there is One who has a right to tell us what to do and that is God. By the way, that's one of the fundamental reasons many do not want to acknowledge the existence of God – they don't want Him telling them what to do. You see if God does indeed exist and if He is truly my creator, then I am answerable to Him. Man in his struggle to free himself from being answerable to God has made himself a god. And no one is more tyrannical than this self-made god we call “me.”

More Wisdom from the Bible |
Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Joshua 24:15 (NKJV) “And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

LETTER FROM THE ISF DIRECTORS
Dear International Friend,
We are sending this newsletter to you with our greetings and to let you know that you are very important to us. We are able to see some of you on a regular basis. We are very happy for our continuing friendship. We realize that some are busy with classes or a job. Maybe you have moved away from Pittsburgh . In either case even though you may not be able to come to our home or monthly gatherings, we still count you as a friend. We hope when you have time or are visiting in the Pittsburgh area that you‘ll stop by to see us.
It seems that another year is quickly passing us by. When autumn comes it is a time when everyone should slow down and enjoy the beauty of the season. How sad it is that many times we go on with the busy rush of life and do not take the opportunity to enjoy the changing of the seasons. No one can make you take the time to appreciate the world around you. No one can make you take time to spend with your family and friends. And no one can make you take time to know God in a personal way. These are choices you must make. As we experience the changes in nature all around us, let us make the choice to slow down and let God and others have a priority in our lives.
--Terry & Pam Tiberio, ISF Directors
