DISCOVERING GOD'S PEACE
|
The Scottish preacher George McDonald observed:
"It has been well said that no man ever sank under the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow's burden is added to the burden of today that the weight is more than a man can bear. Never load your selves so, my friends. If you find yourselves so loaded, at least remember this: it is your own doing, not God's. He begs you to leave the future to Him.”
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace;
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is love.
Stephen Adams
Peace is full confidence that God is who He says He is and that He will keep every promise in His Word.
Dorothy Pentecost
Whatever it is, God can handle it: Sometimes peace is a scarce commodity in a demanding, 21st-century world. How can we find the peace that we so desperately desire? By turning our days and our lives over to God. Elisabeth Elliot writes, “If my life is surrendered to God, all is well. Let me not grab it back, as though it were in peril in His hand but would be safer in mine!” May we give our lives, our hopes, and our prayers to the Father, and, by doing so, accept His will and His peace.
Values for Life
IT'S IN THE BIBLE
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:18 |

IN THE EYE OF THE STORM
|
A hurricane is a storm with cyclonic winds that exceed 74 mph. Rain, thunder, and lightning usually accompany the winds. Hurricanes can be very fierce storms with relentless pounding winds that continue hour after hour. But a very fascinating thing about a hurricane is the “eye”- a place of perfect calm in its center. Though the winds blow and rage all around it, there are none in the eye. So it is with us in the storms of life. With the Lord as our center, there is calm and peace, even in the darkest of life's storms.

LETTER FROM THE ISF DIRECTORS
Dear International Friend,
Our warm and sincere greetings to each and every one of you. Happy New Year and Spring Festival to those who are celebrating Chinese New Year. ??? ? or ?? ? We hope that this New Year of 2008 will be a time when you can sense God extending His love and goodness to you in many ways. We often feel God is pleased with us and that He is sending blessings our way when everything seems to be going smoothly. Although to our human understanding that appears to be true, we can also be assured that even in difficult times God is loving and caring for us. My wife and I have found that in some of the most devastating experiences of our lives, God was even more real to us than when everything was going the way we wanted it to. We had to pray more and trust Him more in the times of uncertainty. The key is how we respond to the challenges we face. We can try to handle the problems in our own strength and ability or we can let God walk beside us and guide in whatever we are facing. We hope you will take the step of faith and believe that God loves you and wants to help you. It was an enjoyable evening for the ISF January gathering. We thank each one who came and invite you to come again and to invite your family and friends to the February Gathering.
--Terry & Pam Tiberio, ISF Directors
