GOD MAKES NO MISTAKES

Oppressed by the noonday heat, a tired farmer sat under a walnut tree to rest. Relaxing, he looked at his pumpkin vines and said to himself, “How strange it is that God puts such big heavy pumpkins on a frail vine that has so little strength it has to trail on the ground!” And then looking up into the cool branches of the tree above him, he added, “How strange it is that God puts small walnuts on such a big tree with branches so strong they could hold a man!” Just then a breeze dislodged a walnut from the tree. The tired farmer wondered no more, as he rubbed his head ruefully and said, "It is a good thing there wasn’t a pumpkin up there instead of a walnut.” Hopefully when the breezes of life flow, you will remember that God, Who is great and wise, makes no mistakes. He deserves our praise under any circumstances.

IT'S GOD’S WORD

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.  Psalm 90:2

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.  Isaiah 40:28-31

GOD’S VOICE

In Directions, James Hamilton writes: Before refrigerators, people used icehouses to preserve their food.  Ice houses had thick walls, no windows, and a tightly fitted door. In winter, when streams and lakes were frozen, large blocks of ice were cut, hauled to the icehouses, and covered with sawdust. Often the ice would last well into the summer.  One man lost a valuable watch while working in an icehouse. He searched diligently for it, carefully raking through the sawdust, but didn’t find it. His fellow workers also looked, but their efforts, too, proved futile. A small boy who heard about the fruitless search slipped into the icehouse during the noon hour and soon emerged with the watch.  Amazed, the men asked him how he found it. “I closed the door,” the boy replied, “lay down in the sawdust, and kept very still. Soon I heard the watch ticking.”

Often the question is not whether God is speaking, but whether we are still enough, and quiet enough, to hear.       Philip Gunter

LETTER FROM THE ISF DIRECTORS
Dear International Friend,

Warm greetings to you from International Student Fellowship.

After what seemed like a long winter here in western Pennsylvania we look forward to springtime. My wife always tells me that Florida would be such a nice place to retire, but I enjoy the change of the seasons.  Not only that, but it can get really hot in Florida in the summer! I still think Pennsylvania is a beautiful place to live. We especially like living here in Pittsburgh because it has allowed us to meet so many people from countries around the world. That is what makes it so special to us.

We missed having a gathering in March, but hopefully we can see many of you again at our very special April Gathering

--Terry & Pam Tiberio, ISF Directors

April 11th ISF Gathering

We would like to invite you to the April ISF Gathering.

This gathering will be on Friday, April 11th at 7:30 PM in the Ballroom of the William Pitt Union. The William Pitt Union is located in Oakland on the corner of Bigelow and Fifth Avenue. To get to the Ballroom, use the entrance on Fifth Avenue and go to your right.

At this gathering, we will be having a special chalk artist, Mrs. Joyce Gahagen, who will draw a special presentation from the Bible. Mrs. Gahagen utilizes fluorescent chalk and will draw utilizing both colored lights and the black light to highlight the features. She will also have her niece, Melissa Neil, helping her. So if possible don’t miss this gathering!

Of course there will also be a full course dinner, good music, special children’s activities in the Kurtzman Room, but especially good International fellowship. It’s all free, so do plan to come and invite your friends                                       .
